LEVIN.
Mr. Robert Hogg, of Wellington, was to have- lectured in Levin on* Friday evening on "Militarism and Socialism," but owing to too stato of the, weather residents apparently deomed their own firesides tho most comfortable placo for tho night, and the lecture did not tako placo. It is expected, however, that Mr. Hogg will return m a week or so to speak on-the above subject. A meeting of tho Lovin Horticultural Society was also to have been hold, but/ only two members turned out, and they decided to call tho mooting for Tuesday ovenmg next. Tho rainfall on Friday night was vcryi heavy. Mr. G. Griffiths Banks, who is to be married shortly, was night presented with a handsome'afternoon tea Borvice as a token, of the esteem in whioh ho, is held by his many friends. Tho" presentation wag mado at the residence of Mrs. Brewster, Queen Street, whore a merry tihie was spent, dancing, games, and songs. filling up the evening. > ) Lonn-Wanderors and Kia Toa (Otaki) junior football teams played a drawn game— 6 points each—at Levin on Saturday.
