Tho number of hotels lfl tho Auckland district that will bo oloscd will ho 28, of whioh\ 14 are in Ohinemuri, and four in, Eden, in both of which districts No-Liccnso was car ; riod. Tho closing of tho remaining 10 hotels h'as been brought about by Reduction, five of tho housos being in Auckland city, three in Manukau, and two in Parnell. Tho hotels in Auckland city that will bo closed 'arc tho Railway Hotel, Terminus, Kitzroy Park, Bricklayers' Arms, and Newton. In the Eden district tho Junction, Epsom, AvondaJe, and Henderson Hotels will ccaso to cx'ist as licensed houses. In tho Manukau district, thoso to close will bo tho Royal Oak at Onebunga, tho Harp of Erin at Ellorslio, and tho Wairoa South Hotel at Clovedon, .whilst tho two in tho ParneE electorate are tho St. Hellers Hotel ai St. Heliero Bay, and tho Star and Garter at Paomure. Of tho fourteen hotels to bo closed .in the Ohinemuri district, four aro in Waihi, four in Paeroa, two at Karangahako, two'at Waitokauri, one at Mackytewn, and ono at Waikino. , With tlio idea of lightening tho blow that is to fall on tho licensees of tlio fivo hotels in tho city whioh aro to bo, closed, tho Auckland Licensed Victuallers' Association has decided to mako a. canvass among tho membors with' tho view of collecting £1000 to bo equally divided amongst tho hotelkoepors affected. Up to tho present about £700 has been subscribed, and it is expected that the full amount roquirpd will bo available by tho ond of tho month, th.ua ensuring tho payment ofv£2oo to each of tho licensees of tho fivo housos.
