Next morning he could i not bo aroused, and Dr. Smith was telot phoned for. ' •' l Wm M'Callum confirmed the evidence of tho previous witness, and said that he had put the deceased, who was "very liveJv," to bod afcontf 10 o'clock. He was siok when ho was put to bed. l sWitness slept in the same room as deceased, and hearing him snoring, went in and bathed his head with oold wator. v This was about 11,45, and witness did not think anything senous was the matter, Dr Smith gave evidence that ho had examined deceased, and found no marks of ! violence, but tho fa«r and neck was .blackened and there was frothy" muoua. He considered that tbo cause, of death was suffocation, duo to food being regurgitated into the trachea while vomiting. ■ The verdiot , was that deceased died through,ouffocation while vomiting, when in a state'of coma from alcohol.
