BEEF BREEDS.
HEREFORD MEN'S CHAiLE^GES. Tho Now .Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders' Association has received tho following recommendation from a special mittee:— ' "That any breeder of;Horefords shall be authorised .by the Hereford' Association to challengo breeders.of .shorthorns, Aberdeen Angus, or any other recognised beef breed on the following lines:— '.-.-;• ; . ■•'." (1) The challenger and challenged shall receive three yearlings (date, of, calving 'to be taken from Juno 30)' of each brosd, which shall be-grazed on grass'only, ,with three of his own, for a full period of two years. , .','-. '. ■■ .'.' , ■ ?'(2) Each_ competitor .shall then exhibit the animals in his,charge, if practicable, at his local show (if any) for exhibition only. " (3) Afterwards they shall bo slaughtered and consigned to London on owners' account and. judged by leading firms of salesmen. ," (4) All expenses shall be borne ,by the owners of tho cattle. . ' "(5) A trophy consisting.of a.piece of plate, of tho value of not less than £15, will bo awarded by .'the Hereford Association to tho competitor scoring most points.' .' "(6)"Value of points—First, 5: second, 3.; third, 1., ;■ ,-...'. '. ." (7): Hereford Association to\be notified of. any challenge,; and to have right to inspect any competitors." ■,:.'■■■ Tho recommendation has been adopted by the association. "•■'■'.■■'".', . . '
