Captain Hewitt, chair- • man of directors, presided and there wero also present: Moesra. J. G. Wibonj W. J. Birch, H.~A. Nivons, J. Baisillio, J. 0. Cooper, TV. Mills, and A. Howie. An application was received from/ the Clovodon branch of the Farmers' Union, asking for on agency. Resolved to comply with tho request, the branch to bo asked to supervise and report on "risks 6ent in. Mr. Howie reported that the, secretary of tho )Vaverley would act as agent _for tho district, and the directors duly appointed him. There was cvory prospect (it was stated) of a largo number of risks coming from that distract. Tho matter of forming an accident insurance branch, which was referred to tho directors by tho ELotahuna Conference, was considered, and, although the Mutual Insurance Asfiooiation could not take accident nsks, a sub-committee was appointed to go into the question of tho adv lsabihtj of forming a Fanners' Accident Insurance Company, and report at' a future meeting. The secretary's statement of bußinoss from January l'to dato showed that £11,000 worth of now risks had been accopted, bringing ' tho total Insurance now held by tho association for this province to over £100,000 The business was increasing now that the rate had been reduced on first-class risks, to Bs. Tho opinion was expressed that the tune had now arrived when a Lincoln Breeders' Association should bo established.. A committee, consisting of Messrs AV. Perry (Masterton), W. H. Wybourn (Waverlcy), and D. MjGregor junr (Masterton), was ippointed to circularise tho breeders in. New Zealand, and call a further meeting,at the noxt Palmorston Spring Show.
