TWENTY-EIGHT HOTELS TO CLOSE IN ; ';H' AUCKLAND DISTRICT. "-: -LIGHTENING THE-BLOW. 1 / (By Telceraph.—Press ABBocl&Uon.) ■v .-Auckland, June 25. ■'■ Current hotel.lioenseswfll.expire on Wednesday next, and on that date the various hotels which have failed to secure renewals of lioenses as'a result of the last local option poll will close theiribars. .The number of hotels in the Auckland district that will be closed will be 28, of which 14 are in Ohinehuri and 4 in Eden, in both of which districts No-License was carried.. The closing of the remaining 10 hotels has been brought about by Reduction. _ .With the "view of. lightening the blow that is to. fall on the licensees of the five hotels that are to be closed in the city, the Auckland Licensed Victuallers'' Associition. has .decided to make a canvass among - members. with the view of collecting £1000 to be .equally divided ' amongst the hotclkeepers affected.
