DEFENCE OF THE EMPIRE.
Sir,—The correspondence published in your paper _shows the keen interest taken by its readers'in the defence of the Empire.. The leading subject appears ;to be the support of thb'Npvy of tho Empire. .. Apropos of tho wholo question, and particularly tho lost, a perusal of "Advance Australasia," by Frank I. ■ Bullen (Public Library reference room, 919. 3 over B), would suggest some idea'asto the support from tho States in tho South Pacific for the Royal Navy and tHe form it should take. The whole work will repay attention.—l am, etc., ' -'■v. WELLINGTON. June 14. '■ - : ; . • ■
