OUR MEAT EXPORTS.
LONDON FULL: TRY THE PROVINCES.
It seeme a mistako to continue sending sheep to. London whilo. the'stores there aro full (says _ " Bustious " in tho " Canterbury runes '), but wo have no otlier course. Onto our lambs are fat they' must go into the freezing chamber, and they have been boming forward.in such numbers'thatit is impossible to .storo them in'the Dominion. Itisto bo hoped that those at' the head of tho trade, both hero and in England, will use their best endeavours to get our meat on to the Continent, where an unlimited demand awaits it. Tho United _ States, and also Canada, should bo in a position to consume largo quantities of our spare mutton. Thoir flocks are small comparatively, and their populations aro largo and rapidly increasing. But it seems rather out of place to speak of spreading our frozen mutton over tho earth's surface when we cannot even get it spread over England without first of all. sending it to London. Surely it would pay to send it direct to half a dozen or'more big ports;,in the United Kingdom—jx>rts which servo immense masses of moat-eating people. Instead of having our meat-piled up in London it would be spread over England, and the cost of extra handling would bo avoided.
