AMY BOCK'S "MARRIAGE."
ANNULLED BY THE JUDGE. " ! WHAT WAS THE LEGAL POSITIONf. (By Tclograph.-Prcss Association.) ' Dunodln, June 17. In tho Divorce Court this morning, beforo Mr. Justice Williams, Agnes Ottoway applied for tho annulment of her, marriage with Amy Bock. ■ Sir. Solomon said that the circumstances of tho marriage wero woll known. Respondent posed aS a man, and the coremony was performed between-tho parties. Almost immediately afterwards, it was , discovered that respondent had been"guilty of a heartless trick, in consequence, of which petitioner had been placed in a very humiliating position. She now asked for'a t decree of Court for annulment of marriage. It was not absolutely necessary in a sense.' Petitioner if sne chose to l get maxriod again, would, be at liberty to do so. . • . His Honour: Of courso, sho would.
■Mr.] Solomon-. But authorities are clear that it is very dosirable that proceedings should bo taken.
His Honour: I can soo that it might bo desirable to havo somo declaration. , Tliero have been oases of tho kind. ,
Mr. Solomon said' that there was ono that came boforo his Honour himself. Dotails woro not tho samo, .but the salient features wore. It was ft caso heard somo eight years ago, and was that of a woman who had married another woman. Tho extraordinary part of that ciiso was that tha parties lived together' for soven or eight' years, at tho end. of which the matter came: boforo.his Honour for aunulitv of marriage. The circumstances of this application woro in no way different from the case of a bigamist marriage. , His Honour This' is' a marriago solemnises between Agnos . Ottoway and a person ro< presenting himself as a, man, and calling' himself Porcival Carl Redwood. There is a marriage, and it appears on'register that she was married to him. I think you ar<' quite right to have a decree of 'anniility. ' Evidence was given by petitioner, Ohio® Detective Herbert, and Agnes Simpson, gad matron. . i. His Honour thon granted a' dooroe a! annulment.
