In the Hons« of Commons, in reply to a question by Mr. Keir Hardie, Mr. Asquith, Prime Minister, stated that the form in which the; Commonwealth's generous otter of a Dreadnought would be finally accepted would depend on the friendly discussion at tho forthcoming Defence Conference.
Mr. Keir Hardio asked whether—considering that the Australian Labour party was still opposed to the offer, and public opinion in Australia much divided— the Imperial Government would delay the final acceptance of tho offer until after the Commonwealth general elections; < Mr. Asquith: {tfo, sir.
