GIANTS COMPARED: The George Washington is 777 ft. long; the Cunarders, Mauretania and Lusitania, are 790 ft. long, and the two gigantic AVhite Star steamers now being built by Messrs. Harland and Wolff at Belfast will, it is stated, be between 900 and 1000 ft.. long. - ■ ■ TonuagSs: George Washington, 27,000; Mauretania and Lusitania, 33,000; new White Stars, reported to be 60,000. Speeds: George Washington; estimated at 10 knots; Mauretania and Lusitania, 25 knots; new White Stars, 21 knots. The George Washington will bo put on what is known as the Saturday service from Bremen to New -York, together with the North Gorman Lloyd new steamer Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm, ol 28,000 tons, and the steamer Berlin (which is aiso in course of construction), of SO,OOO tons. All these steamers are expected to have a speed of about 19 knots.. The George Washington will be able to accommodate in all 2911 passengers—s2o firstclass, 377 second-class. 614 third-class, and 1430 fourth-class.- She will be the first vessel to cater for passengers in a fourth-class. The officers and crew will total 525 men.
