Irish Nationalists, in t!ho debate on the Finance Bill, said tlio Budget proposals wero bad, unjust, and oppressive. Old ago pensions, ho declared, certainly a benefit to Ireland to ike extent of two and a half million's, but ho maintained that the money could, have been spent with greater benefit io Ireland by increasing transport facilities and promoting the general development of tfoo country. The Nationalists have decided to vote against the' second reading of the BiH. SECOND READINC MAJORITY. IRISH OPPOSITION. PREPARATIONS FOR COMMITTEE WARFARE. (Reo. June 11, 11.10 p.m.)' . London, Jnne 11. After a vigorous attack by Mr. Balfonr, Leader of the Opposition, and a short and spirited reply by the Prime Minister, Mr. Asquith, the second reading of the Finance Bill was agreed to, the voting being: For the 8i11...366 Against the Bill ' 209 ■ Majority for 157 . Sixty-two Nationalists voted with the minority. The Lord Mayor of Dublin and the shoriffs and aldermen, in their officialrobes, appeared at the bar of the House of Commons to protest against the Budget. Four hundred Unionist amendments have been handed in. Many more are in course of preparation. LAND TAXES.
LIBERAL MEMORIAL AGAINST THEM. (Rec. June 11, 11.10 p;m.) London, June 11. The "Daily Telegraph" states that sixty Liberals are likely to memorialise the Government, urging them lo abandon the land tax.- The paper adds: /■ "It is understood that tho officiar advisers to the Exchequer always declared that the land proposals aro impracticable and ' unworkable,"
