A conple of licensees wore severely warned regarding their personal conduct; - Tho annual meetings for the future will bo held at Pahiatua. Hastings, Juno fi. , Mr. S. E McCarthy, 8.M., made some remarks on the duties of hotelkeepers at the annual, meeting of tho Licensing Committeo on Friday. Complaints had been made that hre escape ropes ;wexo tied in such a manner ri? n nyl y bailor .wnld untie them. They should bo ready at a,moment's notice, and all ropes should bo fixed half way up tho window. Complaints had also been mado that Maori women iu Hastings and Wai. pawa showed signs of being under the influeuco of drink. This showed that somoono was breaking tho law. It had further been stated that some hbtelkeopors had refused to supply meals between hours. Ho warned them that anyone refusing to supply n cold meal between meal-hours was liable to a fine.
