AN AEREST For a conplo of years past the 'Wellington ifiro Brigade havo been, harassed times out of number with false alarms from Hankey Street. Both tho brigade and the police have attempted ta secure* tho offendor, but without. toccoss. On Saturday ovoning thoro were three alarms from tho locality, one at 10 21 pm from Hankoy Street, anothor at 11 fru from Wallace Streot, and yet another at 1.44 p.m ifrom Hankey Street—all false Bdmothing, however, occurred, at the last alarm which may throw some light on tho /' matter of these,grave breaches of the city -- by-laws., _„ ~ ( , According to tho statement of Miss Dons Harria, f r of Hankey Street, she'saw a man breaking tho alarm m. that street Ho broke tho-,glass, c with a'pockot-knife, and pressed the As ho did eo sho ran up to mm, ' protested; and then caught hold of him Her hold.Vis, roughly shaken off, and away ran tho delinquent with the young lady m full ahaso The man turned into South Avonuo and entered a house, tho locality of which she took careful note before returning to moot £he fire 1 motor near the alarm dot Miss Harris then, informed Supountendent O'Brien , what had occurred, and ho immediately ro--1 paired to tho house indicated in South (Avenue, 1 and found in bed there n man in a half-drunken condition, whom Miss Harris , alleged was tho one who'bioko the alarm t The superintendent took him to tho station and formally charged him with the offence of maliciously breaking a iiro alarm. He will ' \ bo prosecuted under By-Law 29 this morning
