FEILDING.
. Mr. Robert M'Nab had a successful meetmgat the Feilding Drill Hall last night, his subject being universal military training. Ho was met on arrival yesterday afternoon by the Mayor (Mr. Trewin) and memVers of the itorough Council, by whom he was entertained at dinner at Hastio's Hotel. Prior to tho meeting, the school cadets end the Feilding Brass Band paraded. Tho hall was packed to the doors, and the audience was entnusiestio throughout, A feature of the evening was the singing, by Mr. W. H. II Lean, of a new patriotic Bong, "Zealandia Calls," the words by Mr. Thos. Watson and the musio by Sir. H. Timplo White, both of Fending. A motion in favour of national military training was carried at the conclusion. .'
Mr. G. 0. Wheeler, chairman of the Oroua County Council, was asked, at yesterday's meotuig, a question with reference to breaking etones on the roads. "That is a matter," said Mr. Wheeler, "which I despair of-settling. There have been more rowe about cracking the stones than about any. thing else. I don't know what there is about it, but the men don't seem .to like the work." Councillor Reid said that it wae toohard for them nowadays. _ At the quarterly meeting of therHalcbmbe Prnnitivo Methodiet circuit it was shown that tho income for the quarter wae £55 Bs. 6d;, and the expenditure (including a deficit of £i brought forward) was £57. In addition to tho above income, the sum of £8 3s. 3d. was raised by a harvest festival, held dnnng the quarter, in aid of the parecnage fund. ...
