Of these, one application came from Raetihi, throe from Ohmkitne,■:,four.-, fr,om Rangataua, and' one V.each from..;;'Waitara.; Mokau; : and Awakino/., the two latter :being "for renewals of lioerises ;issued, just , .after;.the Magisterial decision. ;-. '■'.-,.- ■■■ ' . : :■■■.!■: ■ FIVE AUCKLAND HOTELS CLOSED. ; Ibt irr.Ecmirn— vvtsu hsocutiohi .'. ■ ; ; ;- • Auokland, Juno 4; The Auckland City Licensing Committeo decided to-night to close the following hotels: —Bricklayers' Arms.in Federal Street, owned by Campbell Ehreritried and Co.; Railway Terminus Hotel, Beach Road, lease held by Hancock and Co.; Newton Hotel, Karangahapo Road, lease , held by Hanconk and Co.; Park Hotel, Wellesley Street, leaSo : held by Campbell and Ehrenfried; ' Fitzroy Hotel, Wakefield Street, owned by tho GreatNortnern Brewery. The maximum number of hotels which thb committee had' power to close was 14, and the minimum three. The brewers, estimate tho loss< (as between the value of tho places named as hotels, and'tholr value,;<as..: unlicensed houses) at between £16,000 and. £18,000.
