■The*ordinary■'meetiDg of the. ■'■ Hastings Borough Counoil wae held ■ on Thursday night, the Mayor presiding. The Public Works Committee recommended,'. that ! the question of :■ a £10,000: loan for sewer exten-sion'be-held over for'further consideration. 1 Reports',were received from the rond overseer, .ranger, and manager:of the abattoirs; Correspondence was received from the Uliief Health Officer with reference to tho extension of drainage works in Hastings. The writer'stated'that, .in: all,cases-involving-.ex-penditure of money on sanitary .works* by focal bodies, it was- the policy of" tho Minister to require the proposal to be submitted to the ratepayers, and not to put in operation Section .(JSTof the;Publio. Health Act; This would bo the case where £10,000 is proposed to be borrowed by the;council. It was decided to; ask the police to onforco the bylaws relating to persons .riding bicycles and driving vehicles without lights after sunset. Accounts amounting to £612 Bs.
