FIRES.
Ail outbreak of fire, the cause of which is unknown, destroyed the residence of Mr. L. H. B. Wilson, Upper Abel Smith Street, at L2o yesterday morning. building, which contained ten rooms, was completely gutted, and the contents were totally d<vstroyed, a high wind driving the flames through the house in a very short sjmco of time, in spite of the efforts of the brigade, which was on scene promptly. The fire appeared to haveits origin m tho ( back portion of the promises. The building and outbuildings were insured in the Allianeo office for £450, and. in the Phoenix for £200. The contents were insured for £330 with tho Allianeo Company. At 10.34 last night, tho Fire Brigade received a call to No. 27a Thorndon Quay, a 5-roomed dwelling occupied by Mrs. Charlotte O'Kolly, and owued by Mr. JI. llaher. The front sitting-room and . contents were slightly damaged by firo. Tho furniture was insured in the Commercial Union Office for £100.
