Winter Show opened to-day in splendid weather. ; The number of entries is a record, and the quality of tho' exhibits is excellent. Competition in cheeso and butter was very keen, and the judges had great difficulty in many cases 'in arriving at decisions. The Government exhibit, consisting of grain, roots, fruits, etc., is a very fine one, and has been much admired. The following are tho chief awards in the cheese and butter classes:— Six, large, full cream, . N.Z. cheddarshapeu cheeses; suitable forexport (coloured). —Wyndham, 94} points, 1; Omimi, 94' points, 2; Mataura, 93} points, 3.'.,' Six large, full-cream, N.Z. Mr. Cuddio, Dairy Commissioner, judged tho exhibits of factory-made butter. He remarked that tho exhibit was ono of tho best which he has seen at tho Dunedin wintor show, both as regards entries and quality. The competition in all classes was extremoly keen, and the produce, as a whole, is a credit to tho nvaufaefcurcrs. Tho degree of uniformity was most noticeable,'and speaks well for the system of manufacture at the various factories.
