Committeo, and four others,, with reference to tho board's action in sending forward, for their,consideration, one uanio only iii making appointments, was read. Tlib secretary (Mr. G. L. Stewart), reported that ho had written to the : l'etone Committee, explaining tho .circumstances (already published in The Dominion) whioh dictated tho board's action. Mr.'Allan inquired whether the circumstances ;in '.tho case of tl)o other; four committees wore of. a similar nature, and was informed that that was so. Tho board endorsed the secretary's action, tho letters being "received." It was pointed out that "tho board was "entitled to its course of action under tho Act, which, as Mr. Vilo observed, .was designed.toemphasiso tho principle that tho power of 'appointing teachers was fundar mentally a function of. tho board.
