[Bi TEi.tuiui'ir-si-Ecui. 'diiiii:«io'-nnMT.f Marton, May. 26. \ At . the annual mooting of tiio Martoa Jockoy Club held last night the balance- . sheet showed a profit of £964 ou the last race meeting—a record for the club. Mr. Jas. Coombe resigned his position as starter,- and Mr. 0. O'Connor, of Auckland, was appointed in his place. It was decided to increase th<i stakes by £100, which is about £400 more \ than required by tho Rules of Racing. Tha chairman said that some trouble. was being experienced about the' dates for tie nori meeting. , The 1 first, available -Wednesday foi tho new racing season was on Soptembcir 8, and the Marton Olub were entitled to thia date, but it meant clashing with tho Horo« wlicnua Club. To avoid this, tho Marton Jockey Club had tabled a notieo of motion for tho Racing Conference in July to substitute August 31' for September 1_ as the: end of the period for the welter-weight season.' If this was carried, the Marten Club could then raco on September 1 and 2, and thus the difficulty, would.be.overcome-.. .
