In tho.Dominion House of Commons on March 24, Sir Frederick Borden, Minister of Militia, announced the offer by Lord Straihobna of £2000 per;annum for the encouragement: of physical and military drill in the public schools of Canada! ~ Lord Strathcona's lottcr. , which was read amidst applause, stated that he would forward a cheque for £50,000 immediately, on the organisation of the, board of'trustees, of which , he suggested Earl.Grey, the Governor, should-be patron, and' Sir W.; Laurier, the Premier, vice-patron.' -.. -. ■■''■"■ Sir F. 1 Borden stated that ho had cabled to Lord Strathcona his grateful acceptance of the' genoroits offer, and had.'' suggested that, the fund be .called ''The Strathcona Trust for tho Encouragement of.
