AH hookey matohes sot down for Saturday afternoon were postponed on account of th« threatening'aspect of the weather. It cleared up afterwards, and the decision to postpone came in for considerable criticism. . Despite tlio fact that the Hockey Association considered the. weather too boisterous for enthusiasts of tho game to venture : out in "flannels," a largo contingent of folloxrers proceeded to llirnmar, and tlic grounds being in good order a pleasant afternoon vas spent. Practice games proceeded oh ecvoral of the grounds/and on Wesley xrofcr.cs ,a real'.r «roo3 game was played. Nino of Victoria College having..turned up, it was decided that they— with two others—should play all-comers, can. sistitiß of Wellington, Government > Life, T.M.C.A., nnd Thorndon. A referee being procured, play was commenced in real earnest, and -excellent form was shown on both sides, but tho pick of tho teams was Kebbell, of Victoria Collego, who shono above all the others. The first half v;ns altogether in favour of Victoria College, tho score nt the end standing in theii favour at G to-I—flvo of, their goals having been shot by Kcbbcll. On changing round, tho emuo was of a more even nature, the final score boing:' Victoria College, 10; Colours, i. The Victoria Collego backs played a splomlid game all through, nnd .fed-their forwards by hard hitting, in great contrast to the Colours' backs, who Mnied afraid to hit,-preferring to tap the ball or "speculate," but their forwards showed any amount of dash. . The loft wingr ou both sides played well.
