AUCKLAND WINTER SHOW.

''■<"■ Our Auckland correspondent writes":—The 'Auckland A: and-' V. 'Association's' •winter, show: is to be opened'on; : Monday' next.'.'The' dairy; exhibits will: be a'. strong feature. _'. A-. large number of, entries havo:been received for; the, "grading point's". ; butler competition, the hrst'• prize, iri; which -is the- handsome ,AVeddel .Cup, • the second £10, and'the third £7' 10s., with a largo number of' snialler prizes. This, and the;other-dairy' competitions,' aro attracting great interest'.' Altogether there will ho one of the.best collections of butter ever got together.in New Zealand, whilst tho -cheese, is iiot being over-, looked. - Further, interest will bo centred in a'large arch composed of some 250 butter boxes. The fruit-growing capabilities of the district will also bo demonstrated by.,- a .trophy. : which.-, is being erected/by the.'Wa'itemata Fruitgrowers' Association. Mrs. John-' ston, tho Government grader, has arranged i for .'a striking flax trophy, and further exhibits of various products will. bo provided .by the Department of Agriculture; which has taken somo 40.00 feet of space. A demonstration, in I wool-classing :and sorting will bo giycii by Mr. Million, who has been engaged by tho association for tho occasion. A striking feature of tho show will.bo tho district courts' competition, for which en-, tries havo been: received from the Ohinomuri, Pukekoko, and Tduranga districts., This-competition is for the trophy presented by tho, Farmers' Freezing Company. There will also be a. valuable cash prize. ■ At the 1907 show tho Ohinemuri district won the trophy from Pukekohe by tho narrow margin of threo points. Other.features will hv elude- a display of ice and frozen meat, etc V tho Farmers', Freezing Company, and an exhibition of views of tho scenery of the district, which will be shown'by tho Tourist Department.
