NELSON AND ITS FRUIT.
IS IT; EL DORADO? It is reported that largo; profits are being mado in l Nelson through tho fruit industry ; (writes - our travelling correspondent), and that much moro money could bo mado if tho domand were only equal to tho supply. It is stated that a Government officer of tho Agricultural Department 'recently tried to pcrsuado tho Nelson fruit farmers to ship some 4000 cases by tho Rakaia for London, but tho risk was too great, and ho was unsuccessful. It is also reported on very good 'authority that Bomo Nelson fruit growers are
making money at the rate of £2000 per annum from forty-acre orchards. Beside this, tho profits from dairying and : sh*eop farming, sink into insignificance.
