An active demand for draught horses has prevailed in Ashburton district this autumn and among.tho possiblo causes may bo an intontion.Jo grow an increased area of wheat. Tho area under wheat crop last year was about 250 t OOO acres. Numerous instances' aro recorded of owners, of wheat lands doubling tho number of their plough horses. Young horses especially aro fetching high prices.
