Michel, Mayor of Hokitika, vrhe has been visiting Christchurch, says thore is a good deal of fooling on tho Wost Coast in.regard to the proposal to abolish .Dietrict Courts.' Much inconvclu'enco would be caused if the sohomo woro carried out. District Courts sat in small towns, suoh aa Kumara, Reefton,' and 1 Wostpprt, whioh wore not included in tho circuit <of tho Supromo Court, and which tho. Supreme, Court could not; bo expected to, visit. Largonuinbcrs' of-people who.had ■ legal casoe would havo to go to thp trouble and oxpenso to attend , of", thp Supromo Court, instead of. bringing, their , cases bo-' foro Diatririt Courts. Apparently, the idea originated in a dpsirp; to say? mpnpy. but he conld not 6oe whoro economy would be effected. It seemed to hint that if tlie Diafrict Courts had to go, it would bo 110003sary to extend tho jurisdiction ■of tho Magistnvto's tJourt. - '■' : , . ,
