It was pointed out !.hat %> railway, by following this route, would givo railway facilities to a hundred' thousand acres of splendid' agricultural • and • pastoral land in tlio Clutha Valley, and would also provide a Toady outlet' for .the, produce from' that largo 'andfertile district, of-'which Roxburgh is tho centre.
