Broad and lteoves, flaxmillers, of its intention to take legal action against them for alleged breaches of the Manawatu flaxmill employees' award—(l) for dismissing men becauso they weie entitled to tho benefits of the award; (2) for breach of tho preference clause in taking on non-imionists when unionists woro available. The Department also proposes to apply to the Court for an interpiotation to test the validity of contracts signed to scutch flax at a lower rate than provided by tho award. The cases will be heard in tho Arbitration Court.
