In connection with the. tragedy at the suburb of Richmond,, where Margaret Gallagher, aged 76, living by herself; was found brutally murdered—the suspected .motive being robbery—no arrest has .yet been made. , - O'Sullivan, a butcher, living next door in a house belonging to tho victim, was arrested on a charge of drunkenness,. and - was discharged. A butcher's steel was found among the bedclothes in the victim's house. •; O'Sullivan admitted that. the' steel. belonged to him, and could not say how it camc into Mrs. Gallagher's possession. -.. .. • '''; ' Ho said ho had been lying about his yard for 'some time about the time of the'murder. :Ho' admitted that he ' was, in .'arrears with his rent and that deceased had served 1 him with notico to quit, but ho stoutly denies any connection with';'.the. murder'.
