WEDNESDAY ASSOCIATION. .Artillery A 5, Y.M.C.A. 0. Post and Telegraph 13, Artillery B 2. Hui-Mai A 3, Karori 0. Hui-Mai B 2, Petone A 1. Tho second week's series of matches under tho auspices of tbo Wednesday Hockey Association wero played yesterday. The players on the Basin Reserve wero very heavily handicapped by tho long grass, and tho association will probably writ® to the chairman of the Reserves Committoo .asking that tho ground bo attended to before next week. • - Artillery A v.-, Y.M.C.A.—Artillery had an easy win ovor Y.M.C.A., scoring 5 goals to nil, Shadbolt (2),- Rapson (2), and May (1) scoring for Artillery. Tho passing rushes of the winners at times were very good. . Mr. Carver waß the referee. Post and Telegraph v. Artillory B.—Tho former won by 13 goals to 2, after a very hard-fought game. Artillery were handicapped by' the full-backs being very.weak, and losing Townsend, who had to retire on account of receiving a bad hit on the kneecap. Owens (G), Jones (4), Hollis (2), and Vauso (1) scored for tho winners, while Townsend' and Farr each scored for the losers. Mr. Goodman rcfcreed. Hui-Mai B v. Petone A, at Kelburnc Park. —This was a very close game. HuiMai led at half time, ono to nil, scored by Johnson. In the second half, Packharcl. started by scoring for Petone. Just bofore tho call of time, Davis scored for Hui-Mai. Tho winners showed the better combination. Tho referee was Mr. Sherwood. -

Karori v. Hui-Mai.—A strong southerly and rain militated against hockey on 1 the Karori ground, but nothing daunted the ardour of both Karori and Hui-Mai for their game, and it took only a few minutes be-' fore both sides -were doing their utmost to pilot the ball between the posts. That object was not .an easy task, however, and many a slip checked players whoso intentions were of the best; _ Hard work-at last gave Hui-Mai a lead of one goalj scored by Kuch. Karori attacked'keenly, but had not found the net when half-time was Bounded Just before half-time. Turner, a Hui-Mai player, received a blow •on tho cheek which necessitated his leaving the ground. A. Spiers was permitted to take nis place: Hui-Mai led off in tho second spell by attacking strongly, but were repulsed mainly owing to the solid defence of Dyer, who was easily, tho best man on Karori's side. He has a tendency to play a littkS far up tho field, but he will not find that hard to rectify. Karori lost a good chance of■;scoring ■by giving "sticks," and Hui-Mai seized the opportunity lost by the Blacks, Mearns 'getting his stick to the ball at the right moment." From this on Hui-Mai showed themselves superior, and Melville honoured his side with a'third goal. Karori fought gamely till the finish. The defence was too good, and so a strenuous tussle ended in favour of Hui-Mai by three goals to nil. Kuch, Spiers, and Duckling were perhaps the' best of Hui-Mai, who showed that they will bo hard to beat.' Karori; who seemed to tire in the second Bpell, owe a lot to Dyer, C. Spiers," and Dasent, who played well. Mr. Cusack was the referee. .
