Stock sales were held at Pahiatua yesterday by Messrs. Dalgety and Co. and Abraham and W hams, Ltd. There was a full yarding of both cattle and sheep, and, although steady rain commenced during the sole, there was a >air attendance. Bidding was brisk, and a good sale resulted, tho whole yarding, except one smal pen of cattle, being sold •at satisfactory prices. Dalgety . andl Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sales at their Wanganui East £ards on May 5, and at Waverley on May 7. The report states :-At Wanganui we yarded 5000 sheep and 200 cattle. The - bulk of the 2' Co S ted c ° f .Bß od forward-conditioned wethers, 4000 of this class being yarded. All classes pf sheep were in good demand, and prices showed a decided improvement, especially in good wethers, which sold right up to fat prices. A Waikato buyer was operating for wethers, and 2000 odd of the best of tho C went to his bid; Cattle were in good demand, .and_we. practically effected a total clearance. At \\ averley sheep wero again in good demand. Several of tho advertised lines failed to como lorwarcl, and the yarding was. consequently smaller than we anticipated. Wo yarded 1400 sheep and 210 cattle. Good classes of sheep sold ■u t0 late rdt ?'' and cattl ° also so] d fairly well, though the bidding was not so brisk as at Wanganui on Wednesday. Id.-; fat ewes, 10s.; fat and forward lambs, Bs.; good 4-tooth wethers, Is. to 11s. 3d.; good 2-tooth wethers, 10s. 9d.; three-quartcrbred 4-tooth wethers, 9s. da.; mixed aged Lincoln ewes in lamb, 11s 6d • old ewes, 4s. 9d.; small lambs, 4s. 7d.; mixed cull sheep, 4s. Cattle: Store cows, £2 10s.; old cows, 15s. to 255.; medium- 18-months 'steers. £1 3s. to £% 4s. 6d.; 3-year bush steers, ,£4; 2year ditto, £3 Is.; yearling ditto, 355. Waverley: Forward wethers, 10s. 4d.; medium lambs, 6s. ad.-to. 75.-Id.j-f.m: ewes in lamb, 6s.
