Most satisfactory results have been obtained by an experiment in school hygiene which has been- carried out during the past twelve months by Mr. W. H. Marsh, staff scionco instructor of tho Buckinghamshire County. Council. In 25 schools tho floor has been sprinkled nightly with a . liquid germicide, and the improved attendance consequent upon tho diminution of illness has been sufficient to earn additional grants of over £50. Tho cost of tho disinfection was £30. For a first edition copy of Walton's "Tho Compleat Angler," the property of Colonel Sandford, £1085 .was paid at Messrs. Sotheby's rooms in London. This is not a record price, as two years ago the .Van Antwerp specimen realised £1290. Another interesting feature of tho salo was a copy of the first Edinburgh edition of Buras's Poems, after his arrival in the city, with omitted .'names in tho linos filled in in tho poet's own ['handwriting.
