Chappie, 'Mrs. M.W. Richmond, Miss M. E ; Itichmond, Mrs. W;. Young, Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, Mrs.;Bolgate, Lady Stout,-Adjutant Duff, Matron of St. Helen's, Mrs. \V. J. Gray, Mrs'. The annual_ report, read by the acting-president, Mrs. Fell, and.adoption of the balance-sheet were carried. .The'patroness of the society ia Her Excellency .'Lady Plunket.-' ■"• _ Dr..':Neivman,; who /presided, at the meeting/spoke of the excellent work done by the society during the .year, .and of ..the interest the City Council took in its proceedings. For many';years: past the' city" of Glasgow .and other cities at Home had. nurses to go round and, see for. themselves as'tp thoactual.'needs and'treatment, of cases/needing attention. Much depended.; upon a" good milk .'supply! and, in .trying to dbtain itfor.tbii city, the difficulties were many.: The American system of having .the'milk in bottles and keeping it in cool;chambers was .to he recommended, as if kept it fresh and good for a long tiihe. By. teaching people the value of cleanliness -much would bo gained. In a few months he hoped that the/council .'and he would havo worked out a feasible arid'practical scheme for a pure and. good milk supply,. :/■ ■■■; Dr. Bennett spoke in complimentary terms of tlie work of the Plunket nurse. 'No moro charitable work, could be undertaken than' that. .It-was carried out on- lines similar to that of-the district nurses, and the great advantages of it were'that a practical demonstration, of. tho-.work 'could bo given in the people's; own'homes... There the' ablo.to.see for .'herself the -conditions': of things, arid -take-'a personal interest'.in them. Much of tho,sickness of babies was caused by bad milk, and sbo t would'bo glad to see tho reform of the milk supply carried put. ..Mr.'A/.R.'/Atkinson; m the 'course of his speech, also spoke highly of tho work of tho Plunket.nnrse:(Mrs. Macdonald) in the oity.
