|f : OPERA HOUSE. The vicissitudes of "Two Little Sailor Boys," as shown on the, stage,by. ; tJio'jMeypoll and Gunn Company, were keenly followed by a large audience-'at the Opera Souse. This drama,, which is elaborately mounted t and-ex-oellently played, will, .be repeated for the-last time to-night. v ; \ , , On Monday evening'.next, the same company will stage another new play, .written by Mr. Jo.-Smith. It is a mining drama, and full of sensations. It is asserted by . those who .ought to know that'this piece will introduce a new phase in purely Australian productions. The plot is novel, thrilling, ana-yet convincing, the characters are living beings, and the interest is sustained. The Australian atmosphere «of the early dayß ,of,the Australian gplafields iis real, and everything is said to be in keeping with the' spirit •of the pieoe. The staging and mounting will be special features. There will bo a'change «f programme to-nighi HIS MAJESTY'S THEATEE. iThe pictures being shown- at His Theatre by the Koyal Piotures Syndicate thif week are of exceptional merit,. and the large audience present last night was not slow in expressing its approval! The usual matinee will be given this afternoon. TOWN HALL ORGAN. : ' The weekly municipal organ recital will be ®iven in the Town Hall to-night, when Mr Maughan Barnett will play a programme containing such popular items as Elgar's "Pomr and Circumstance" march, Wagner's, Gooc Friday music, and Pierne's serenade.- ; MISSIONS TO SEAMEN CONCEBT.. An enjoyable concert was given at the Seamen's Mission last night, the performers baiiif .the band of H.M.S. Challenger, under Mr. .L M. Barnett, chief musician'of the cruiser, anc a party of vocalists brought by -Miss Tomkin son.. The proceeds-of the entertainment wen in aid •of the piano renovation fund, and since the andience was a large one, there musi have been a good sum taken. The band itemi of the. programme were: March, "Entry of thi Gladiators ; _ grand selection, , "Maritana" waltz, "Estndiantina";' grand selection "Faust"; "Turkish Patrol," "Songs oAmerica." , Songs' wore rendered ' b; Madame Mueller, Miss Mueller, anc Mr. _C. R&uL,- Mr. J. Moore, missioner .presided. At.the conclusion of tie concert thi performers were accorded a hearty -vote o thanks for their assistance. . OLYMPIA SKATING BINE. ' All sessions at the Olympia Rink continui to be well attended, and the popular pastim< has again "caught on." A matinee for ladio and ohildren takes placo this morning. Th< band will be in attendance at the afternooi and evening sessions. On Monday ; night i fifteen-lap. race takos place, a polo match wil be played on' Wednesday evening, and a gram carnival will be held on or about May 26. A SOCIAL EVENING. On Wednesday evening the Permanent Pore Recreation Club entertained members o the St.'Peter's Club at a'social-evening heli in the Alexandra Military Depot. Durin, the evening various games and competition were indulged in, the Permanent Force provini their superioiity over their guests at billiard! snooker, ouchre, and crib, whilo the St. Potor' Club secured a decisive victory at whist. Sup per was handed round, and the remainder o the-evening-dovoted to a musical programme to which the following contributedMr; Bell Corp. Somerville, Gunners Stewart, R. Coopei R. G. Porter, and O'Sullivan. Mr. Major gav a very interesting display of sleight of hani work, and tho .Permanent Force Orohostr; placed soveral appropriate selections in its usun efficient manner. At the conclusion' Mr. Rasi (vice-president), in thanking the Permanen Force Club for its hospitality, expressed hi high appreciation at tne entertainmont ; pro viaed, and intimated that when his club wouli have the pleasure of returning tho complimon it would endeavour to provide an equally in teresting entertainment. Sergt. Sawlo (see retary) suitably responded on behalf of th Permanent Force Recreation Club. The T.M.C.A. Literary and Debating Clul mot last evening, Mr. R. Brown presided ove; the meeting, which took tho form of "After dinner speeches." Tho chairman led off wel with toasts to thb King and Parliament. Th Mayor (Dr. Newman), who was tho guest o tho evening, "The Ladios," "The Press," ani "The Y.M.C.A.," were all toasted, and re pli'ed to by members.
