Christchurch, May 7. ■ The recoTory in the wheat market in America and London, has encouraged local' exporters to again operate, and there.is, therefore, a afairly •keen demand. Prices have. firmed, and fe. ;at oountry stations is now offered. A fair quantity haß changed hands during the last few days, and, between merchants, there has been a considerable turnover., Amongst sales that havo. taken place lately were 2750 bushels of Hunter' 6 af Ss. lid., 10,200 bushels of Tuscan, and 2000 bushels of. Hunter's at is., at country 6tations.\ .' .. , , . , ~ Business in oats is restricted owing to there being no further shipping space available this month.. Otherwise, there would be demand for export at present > prices.. In the meantime, there is' very, little: doing. __ • There has been a sharp potatoes, >as growers declined to sell at 405., and wero pitting their, crops instead.
