Last night's, monthly meeting of. the local exeisutive-qf the Navy League was attended by MrJ J. B. Harcourt'.'(in the, chair), Liettt.-' Colonel G.F.C. Campbell, Capt.A.'V. Jones, Messrs. D. M'KeUar/E. J. Le Grbve, E.'Darroch, J.M. Butt, and C..JV-. Palmer.i" - ■ ': The date of the regular monthly meeting was ,nxed'for. the first Thursday of each month.''' The committee approved the hon. secretary's :actipn in sending naval lanterm slides for use at.Masterton, and in ordering a further small supply of; new slides from London. His action in approaching the various outside harbour boards regarding '. the advantages ■ of nightSignalling at the lighthouses was also approved. ' It was reported'that ah 'oral assurance -had been obtained from' the Railway Department that space would be found for hanging the iNavy.League.wall map of the'jvorld at some of tnelarger.railway stations in the Dominion: ■Tho Prize Sub-committee.chose "The British' Navy Under the Three .Georges" as the subject of this yearjs essay at the.school branches of the.league.".■'".'■".'■ .'lt'.was reported that simple Navy. League registers'were being, supplied,for the use and: convenience of the various headmasters and in connection with, the enrolment of members. ■ It was; resolved to thank' Colonel TV. H. >Vebb . for .a' framed "picture'' of .H. M.S. Victory, presented, by. him to the •league. ■■■'■..• . The secretary-roported.-that : Capt.-de:Costa, H.N., of H.M.S. Challenger, .had kindly offered to provide naval items in ; connection ..withy the approaching annual meeting of the league, and it was also intimated that, subject to'the approval of theMleadmasters' Association, massed patriotic choruses by the juvenile members of the league;were proposed; to ,• bo : included.
