FOOTBALL ACCIDENTS.

"Fair Treatment" writes as follows:— . Sir,—Permit mo space in your columns to refer to the 'treatment during tho progress of Wednesday's football matches of players who were injured. A player of the Tramways Football Club met with a somewhat serious accident, and had to be carried off field.. Neither ambulance nor stretcher was available, which, should bo near at hand in cases of this, kind; Tho injured player was kept about waiting.for a tram for conveyance to a. doctor, as his accident seemed to bo vory bad. A little while after, a player of the Star. Football Club, met .with a similar accident, and was also treated in tho same -manner. Now, sir, do you -call this just- treatmout to players meeting with accidents?. I may also state that*tho secro, tary of tho'Rugby Union was presont at tho Park, and seemed to take the wholo of tho proceedings as if nothing had happened! Ho was asked who was tho union's doctor, *and tho reply was, "Anyone of theni." Can you wonder why so many of tho Rugby football players aro • giving up Rugby and taking part in tho many other, sport games during the winter monflisP It is only through'the treatment' that many a player has received when injured. I think tho Rugby Union will have to wako up before many weeks are over."

[A Dominion roportcr saw tho rccretary of the Wellington Rugby Union'(Mr. W. 6. Talbot) iu regard to this matter, and was informed that there was an ambulance stretcher and outfit always available at tho Park. Concerning tho secretary's interfering with injured persons, it appeared to him that it would bo much hotter if the publio mid some of. the players also stood at a distance and gave the injured man nioro air, instead of -crowding round When they could render no assistance. .• In regard to his answer when asked who was tho union's doctor, lie thought that tho nearest or any doctor was. tho best when it was necessary, for an injured player to receive medical at* ■tcntioh.] !
