A meeting of the Society for ;the Protection of Women and Children waa held yesterday afternoon, Mra. "W. Fell presiding. Others present were the ;Rov. Mother Mary Joseph Auberfc, Mrs. J. Kirkcaldie, and Mrs. A. Hoby. A number of cases had been investigated, and four fresh cases were reported of children who were to be removed from undesirable surroundings. One adoption case is pending. Other cases are to be investigated beforo .being dealt with. The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks: 10s. each from Mrs. R. Hannah and M, Myers, ss. cach' from Mrs. Mauasley, Miss M. E. Richmond, and Messrs. Hill and Son,- A. ! Gray, and J. J. Curtis; also a.parcel of clothing from Mrs. Boyes.
