J. Gibson Smith is to deliver a public lecture to-night in the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Schoolroom on "Robert Louis ,Stevon» son," under tho auspices of tho newly-formed Ladje3' Readjug Circle connected with the church. Winter will soon bo paying its worst attention to the poverty-stricken "and needy, sick of this city, and the nurses of St. John Ambulance Nursing Guild will'have to face the bleak and cheerless weather, and work bard to help tlio poor. Tho Wellington Professional Orchestra are assisting, by giving a concert in tho Town Hall on Sunday evening next, l{ay 2. Tho hall has been generously, given for tho occasion, nnd tho nurses will hold tho collection plates. It is to be hoped they will meet with a generous response, 1 and it is hoped that on this. occasion tho Town Hall will prove too' small.
