DRY MASH FOR POULTRY.
'A few days ago (telegraphs \our Clinstchurch correspondent), in answer to a request .by a correspondent signing herself "Poultry, a member, of the "Lyttelton Times" staff, wrote to Mr. A; Carr, manager of the State poultry farm-at : Milton, asking for details of his dry-mash system of feeding.referred to_m a recent article descriptive of the farm. Mr. Carr replied:—"You will find the following satisfactory, using mixture No. 2 as a change from No. 1. The trough must be' kept full and always'before the.vbirds. Give green food in the middlo of the day, feed whole grain in tho evening, and keep crushed oyeter shells, grit, and charcoal mixed, and plenty of clean water at all times in-front of tnom.' The details of the mash are as follow:— , "No. 1: 501b; pollard, ,101b. bran, 121b. maize meal, 201b. crushed dried bone, 101b. crushed dried blood, 21b. flour of sulphur, and Jib. salt.' ' '' .■' '■ ' . '• ■■ "No. 2: 501b. pollard, 151b. bran, 151b. crushed oats, 151b. crushed wheat, 101b. blood meal, 21b. Singer or Pratt's spice for'poultry, and common salt. Mix'and dry thoroughly and keep dry."
