TO-DAY'S ELECTIONS.

Most people who take a proper interest in municipal affairs will have made up their minds before to-day for whom they intend to vote. ' The numerous speeches of the candidates for the/city Mayoralty should have made their .views 1 very clear to all who desired enlightenment, ; _and- we have discussed before this the merits and disadvantages of the various aspirants for office. It only remains to urge all citizens whose names are' on the roll to remember i that the registration of their Vote is not more a privilege; than it ie.aduty. The city's affairs, will require careful administration during the coming year, and it is , .highly important that solid, stable men shall bo elected both to the Mayoral chair and.-Council. ■,Their electioa can only bo assured if all who have the 'city's interests at hcftr.t -shall take good care to register their votes. In the event of a small poll it is always probable that the supporters of mere sectional interests 1 will"secur'e"a" preponderance -of influence through their superior and organised enthusiasm, and it is noti ; desirable that j;he control of the city's" affairs should be absorbed by any single, party. In the-suburbs and surrounding districts the' same need exists for' the return of men of sound judgment and business'caution. It is the,duty of ; all citizens to' vote, and those persons will be,.most certain'of discharging their honourable responsibility who. determine to: vote .early. /: . . .. ' .; . ;
