As was predioted, there was an unusually large , attendance at the election'^of the school committee on Monday night.' * Tho annual report, submitted by Mr. T. Gardner, the retiring chairman, showed an attendance of 181, as compared "with 16"8 for 1 / the preceding year. The December quarter (aVerage, 155) had the highest average attendance in the school's history, tho average, for .the year just ended being 147. In terms of the Education Amendment Act, 1908, the school is, now entitled to an additional teacher, who cannot, however,' be a£pointed*until three months after, pnblio notiucation, and when tho appointment will bo made is a matter of conjecture A substantial grant was made to tho school library from the proceeds,'of y the annual concert, .During the mid-summer vacation- Miss Uompton'ha'd resigned from" the. staff, and Miss Mason had .recently.
