THE TRADE OUTLOOK.
. "A GOOD TIME AHEAD." CBX TJSLEGUAI'il —SI'BCIAI, COItItKSfONDENT.J „ m . „ . Auckland, April 26. lrado generally is in a much-improved condition throughout New Zealand," says tho manager of a wholesale firm doing business, all over the Dominion. "In the provinces there is a greatly-improved tone, the season , has been a good one both from a pastoral, agricultural, 1 and dairying standpoint, and tho time of monetary stress seems to be pretty woll over. This applies to those districts where rural pursuits are followed, but our travellers report to us that thero is little or no improvement in tho' mining towns. Tho reason for this is hard to; ascribe, but it is nevertheless a fact there is no doubt that conditions all along have been better in Auckland than in ■ any other part of the Dominion. Wo havo endless applications from tho south asking to find positions in the. Auckland province, which shows : conclusively" whijt tho position is in tho southern centre?. Sd, even if wo have not been getting all wo want in this province, wo at least know that wo aro better off in Auckland than they aro in the south." Another merchant says: "111 my opinion wo havo come--to the bottom of things,'' There is no doubt that wo have been right down 011 a commercial bedrock for somo time past, hut we are now. on tho turn of tho tide, and our information from every quarter justifies tho prediction that tlioro is a good time ahead. There has been a prolific season in all parts'of the Doniinion, and the markets aro all holding their, own, so that the financial position throughout the country is satisfactory."
