; A correspondent writes to The Dominion on tho iquestion of dehorning, by caustic as •.follows:—'-'Dehorning , calves'- by ' means of caustic .potash: may be all very-well ifor hand,'reared calves, which can be treated on the ; exact;/ day.; when i thei. button : begins to present' itself,but we cannot be getting motherreared :ones in; every -day or two;.' Apart, from . this, I .know -a man .who .dauterised some 'mother-reared calves:-the. caustic got on to the. cows' flanks _and udders, with the result, that some, starving calved were to be seen chasing' cows with distended udders, who refused to allow a calf to get within six feet of thorn."
