Tho new ithrust-Bhaft to replace tho fracturod shaft of the Mararoa is being forged: at Port Chalmers, and'will be shipped to Lyttelton as soon as it is .completed. It is expected that the Mararoa will bo detained at Lyttelton for about a fortnight, whilo the work of'removing tho ,• fractured shaft and fitting the now ono is be- ' ing oarrled out. Tho .vessel will, bo dooked for cleaning and painting before, resuming her running in tho Wcllington-Lyttelton ferry: Bcrvice. Captain W. Manning liaß relieved Captain Aldwoll of tho command of the: Patcena, and will remain on-her until the Mararoa is ready for sea again. Captain Aldwcll waa a passeugor from Lyttelton by tho Patccua on Saturday ' morning. ■ ■
