LADIES' ASSbCIATION, -V ': In :'presenting fEe-third annual report and balance-sheet .for 1908-9, the .committee ■ state thattfle.past season-vhas/been a most successful one./ The interest in the game was more pronounced than/ever, it las been in former years, especially in the jiuiior andthird grades, but thesenior championship suffered somewhat by having ,only five competing teams in place ot seven the previous year. The prospeots for the commg season appear to be good, but it is ;to ..-be regretted - that more clubs cannot see their.wa7. to, place senior teams in the field - ■Five .-senior,- seven-, junior, and -four third-class clubs i entered for the competitions' during the pnst.. season as compared with seven senior jthreo junior,. and four third-class in the previous year,,and,these" clubs furnished five teams ■for the senior, twelve for the junior, and-* thir-teon/for-the third-class' championships. The m °r ; an d. junior championships were won by the/Victoria'College 'Club with an unbeaten record, and that club is to be congratulated on its performance; The Kiwi Club were runners-up inthe senior contest, and the Girls' in the junior. Tho Terrace.High School Club is to be congratulated ori winning the third-class championship with an unbeaten record.. ThpiEndeavourers Club ..secured second place in this grade, also ;with an unbeaten re- , cord; ;A /representative • tournament was held under, the auspices; of the association; from' September 4.t0 13, 1908, and proved a great succesa. -Entries /were received from . the JiawJie a ..ijay,', AVairarapa, "Wauganui,-Nelson. and jHqrowhenua/.Associations.- Hawke's Bay won the_6enior_c6mpetition enp presented bv 'Mr..
