HER OWN WAISTCOATS.
.Women-are far too busy making themselves waistcoats ■'this.. year ■to devote any surplus energy to the providing of their men'friends with these useful items, say,? a Melbourne paper. The .variety in these waistcoats is endless. One , girl was recently seen wearing a white satin, waistcoat, embroidered with blue, groy, and gold, with a. blue and, grey striped gown. The effect'was .excelloat, and .lost nothing from the fact that hat, gloves, parasol, ,and bag .were'i.all in*-a 'deep tone o£ grey. Brown, blue, and grey huckaback form excellent foundations for waistcoats { worked in strongly contrasting shades. A brown huckaback worked in, browns, golds and blacks, looked specially well; while blue, ; worked in blues, • greens,', and silvers goes excellently with the ever-popular navy waistcoat and skirt. Canvas, workedih wools' and'silks, is a rival to plain knitted vests; while vests in heavy crochet are very popular. The: plain woollen vests are often' finished 'with remarkably handsome buttons, and brothers and husbands are already complaining of much undue borrowing of cherished sots in platinum and turquoises or costly' enamel. _ ./<,.'
