Twelve days after leaving La Plata she ran into an ico floe, and sailed through ice-strewn seas for 343 miles, Many of tho bergs wero so high that they took the wind out of tho vessel's sails. 'Itio ship narrowly escaped being crushed. Dense fog prevailed all tho time.
