The monthly meeting : of; tho Victoria College Council was held last evening, there being present, Mr. T.' R. Fleming (chairman), and' ■Messrs. K. M'Callum, A. K. Meek, H. V. Von Haast, C. Watsorf, E. D. Bell,' W.. H.Quick, J. Graham, Dr. Prendergast; Knight, and the Kev. W.A.Evans. '
'.The .statement of finances showed that the' balance at the bank, after allowing for '.£974 (gymnasium fund), and .£790 ss. ' 2a. (current paymcnts), : was lis. sd. A sum of J31875 was. due from the Government, as a grant; together with i£199.55. grant for Queen's Scholarship. '■..' ■,:'■ . .':' f ■•!■■ ■ "A memorandum was received from the chairman of the Professorial Board (Professor Kirk) with reference: to the question of accommodation. ;'• Consideration thoreof was. held over -for the next meeting. •.,:,: ' ■ ■ On tho motion of Mr. Von Haast, it was decided:—"That- 1 a committee consisting qf the chairman, Mr.' E. D. Bell, Mr. Ostler, and Mr. H. E; Von Haast,.be appointed to confer .with- the Professorial Board and the Students' Association and to draw up for the consideration of the council at its'next meeting regulations for the use of ,the college buildings by tjio students for other than scholastio purposes, and also , in; connection with- the .gymnasium.
